What has happened in the House of the Dragon Season 1: Recap

House of the Dragon Season Recap

The first season dropped with 10 episodes. Every episode comes with a new twist. Fans and followers have loved this show since its first episode. 

This show is an American drama show. Ryan Condal and George R.R. Martin are the creators of this series. This show is all based on the Fire and Blood. HBO is the original network of this show. 

Season 1 features a story of a King who is desperate to have his rightful heir. Fans and followers witnessed the Targaryen clashes for the Iron Throne. 

Alliances are shattered and trusts are betrayed. Families turned on each other. 

So, in short, the show is full of entertainment and fun. One can witness epic VFX, storyline, characters, etc. 

So, let’s proceed with the House of Dragon Season Recap. 

Episode 1: Heirs of the Dragon

The first episode was aired on 21 August 2022 on HBO. Here in this episode, the old King named the  Viserys as the new king. 

Now the king’s wife is pregnant with a baby. Also, the Viserys the king hopes for the baby boy. He organized a tournament to celebrate the birth of his rightful heir. 

But somehow things get complicated and the queen dies giving birth to the child. Soon after a few moments, the baby also dies. This incident left the king in mourning. 

Then king’s hand asks her daughter to give comfort to Viserys. Also, the king banished his younger brother from the King’s Landing and named his elder daughter heir to the throne. 

Episode 2: The Rogue Princess

In House of the Dragon Season 1 Recap Episode 2, the King’s younger brother Daemon held the castle Dragonstone. The small council appoints Kingsgaurd knight to the King’s elder daughter Rhaenyra.

The small council also finds out that Daemon is promoting himself as a rightful heir to the King’s Landing. Also, Daemon stole the dragon’s egg. So, the hand of the king (Otto) sails to the Dragonstone to take the egg from Daemon. Meanwhile, the king announces his marriage to Alicent Hightower (a daughter of the King’s hand)

Episode 3: Second of His Name

In season 3 Lord Corlys and Daemon fight a battle with the king named crabfeeder. Meanwhile Viserys the king enjoying the hunt with his wife Alicent. Also, he was celebrating the birthday of his 2 year baby boy named Aegon.

Lord Corlys’ son’s name was proposed to marry Rhaenyra. 

At the end of the episode, King sends his army to support the Daemon and Corlys. Thereafter, they win the battle with the crab feeder. 

Episode 4: King of the Narrow Sea

House of the Dragon season 1 Recap episode 4: Daemon shows his loyalty towards King Viserys and hands him over his crown. Meanwhile, Rhaenyra comes to town after a long tour. 

Now there is a time in this episode when Daemon and Rhaenyra try to consummate with each other. But Daemon abandoned her. 

Somehow, King knows all of this and then he confronts Daemon.

Episode 5: We Light the Way

In 5th episode, Daemon murders his wife and leaves the King’s Landing.  Meanwhile, Rhaenyra found that his companion Laenor is a homosexual. 

But she proposed him to consummate to produce an heir to the throne. So, Sir Criston (Her Kingsguard knight and lover) does not like all of this. So he proposed to Rhaenyra to run away from the King’s Landing and acquire a new identity in a new city where they could live together. 

At the end of the episode, Rhaenyra and Laenor married in late night. Thereafter, the King collapses suddenly. 

Episode 6: The Princess and the Queen

House of the Dragon Season 1 Recap: Episode 6 brings the show to 10 years forward. Where Rhaenyra has three children. Aliceint always finds Rhaenyra a great threat to her children. So, she prepared his son Aegon that one day you will have to confront the Rhaenrya to claim your rightful throne. 

Meanwhile, Rhaenyra proposed her elder son’s marriage to Alicient’s daughter. But Alicient refuses the proposal thinking that her all children are bastards. 

On the other hand, Daemon’s wife commits suicide after failing to give birth to a child. Daemon has two girls named Baela and Rhaena.

At the end of the episode, Rhaenyra comes back to the Dragonston with her children and lover of Ser Laenor.

Episode 7: Driftmark

Here we will talk about episode 7 of House of Dragon Season 1 Recap. Episode 7 opens with the funeral of the Daemon’s wife (Lady Laena).

Now Daemon and Rhaenyra unite again. A dispute occurs between Alicient’s son Aemond with Lucerys. He slashes Aemond’s eye in the dispute. Now Alicient asks Viserys to take revenge. 

At the end of the episode, Rhaenrya and Daemon marry each other secretly. Then it is found that Ser Leanor faked his death and left the city with Qarl.

Episode 8: The Lord of the Tides

Moving forward in the House of the Dragon season 1 recap, let’s know what happened in episode 8. At the start of the episode, Corlys falls sick because of the wound he got in the stepstone’s battle. Then his younger brother asks King Viserys to name him as heir of Dragonstone. 

Then Rhaenyra and Daemon come back to the capitol to prevent the right of heir right of her son Lucerys. Now King gets very sick of his illness. He named Lucerys the heir.

At the end of the episode, Viserys is shown as near to death. 

Episode 9: The Green Council

Now King Viserys dies. The queen Alicient wants to make his child Aegon the new king. Therefore, they decided to keep the secret of the king’s death. 

In the council, who opposed the proposal of the queen and the hand of the king were imprisoned or murdered. 

Otto Hightower and Queen plan to exile the Rhaenyra. 

Also, people were gathering to see the Aegon coronation. But Princess Rhaenys opposes it. She flew into the royal hall on her dragon and astride on grand hall. 

Episode 10: The Black Queen

Now the Rhaenys reach the Dragonstone on his dragon. Then she gives the news of the king’s death to the Rhaenyra. 

Now Daemon pressures the Rhaenyra to attack the King’s Landing. Rhaenyra sends their children to set up an alliance with Baratheons, Arryn, and Stark. But at the Baratheons Lucerys saw Aemond is already there with his proposal. 

While he has nothing to propose. So, he left the town on his dragon. But Aemond wants to avenge his eye. 

Therefore they have to fight on the dragon. Somehow Lucerys manages to stun Aemond. Rheanyra feels devasted when she gets the news.
